Investigations in Chile

Chile is a country located in the southwestern tip of South America, its capital is the city of Santiago. For its administrative operation the country has 16 regions. It is considered a high income country and in a development way. Its more than 17 million inhabitants average literacy rates, quality of life, economic growth, human development, life expectancy, globatization and GDP per Capital that are among the highest in Latin America. Spanish is the official de facto language and the administrative language of the country. The vast majority of the population uses the variety known as Chilean Spanish. Chile is located along a highly seismic zone due to the subduction of the Nazca and Antarctic plates in the South American plate.

It is considered the second seismically most active country in the world, after Japan, and the fourth most exposed to major damages due to natural catastrophes. The main Chilean tourist attractions correspond to places of natural landscapes in the extreme zones of the country. In the extreme north, the group formed by the Chungará lake and the Parinacota volcano, San Pedro de Atacama, the altiplanic lagoons, the Valley of the Moon and the field of geysers of El Tatio, the largest in the southern hemisphere and the third of the planet. At the southern end are the Vicente Perez Rosales national park, the Chiloe archipelago, Patagonia, the San Rafael lagoon and its glaciers, and the Peine towers national park, selected as the eighth wonder of the world. Along the Andes, there are eighteen ski centers of international quality, such as Portillo, and Valle Nevado, which has one of the largest skiable areas in South America. Finally, in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, Easter Island is probably the main Chilean tourist attraction.
